On the morning of May 16, 2008, Aarushi Talwar was discovered dead by her parents, Rajesh and Nupur. The Talwars' domestic help, Hemraj, was then found on the roof of the apartment building.
A week later, Rajesh Talwar was arrested by the Noida police, which declared that Aarushi's father had found her in a compromising position with her domestic help and had killed them both in a fit of rage. Children's rights activists were outraged by the police's comments.
After keeping him in jail for two months, the CBI said it had no evidence against Aarushi's father. On the teen's first death anniversary, Nupur and Rajesh Talwar share their story with NDTV.
On January 25, 2011, Rajesh Talwar was about to enter the court where he wanted to challenge the CBI's decision to end its inquiry into his daughter's death. A young man attacked him with a knife. Dr Talwar was seriously injured.
